Painted Lady Tattoo Parlour in Northfield, Birmingham is holding a charity event on Sunday 20th September. Inkluded’s Kayla had the chance to catch up with Shop Manager, Calvin Tasker, to find out what the day will be all about.
Kayla Sutcliffe (KS): Let’s start by telling Inkluded readers a bit about the studio…
Calvin Tasker (CT): I’m Calvin, Shop Manager at Painted Lady Tattoo Parlour. Since Dawnii Fantana opened the shop in 2007, it’s grown both in size and the number of artists. Our seven artists are Dawnii Fantana, Gary Stanley, Nick Imms, Andrew John Smith, Matt Youl, Kasi Firefly and Kate Rollinson. If you’re looking for a shop that can cover all styles then definitely give us a visit! I joined early in the year having been tattooed here many times and it’s the best job I’ve ever had! Feel free to pop in any time and have a chat about a tattoo or if you want an animal or David Attenborough fact, I’m your guy!
CT: Primrose Hospice is an independent charity that is close to our heart. We wanted to hold a fundraiser for a local charity and Primrose seemed the natural choice. They provided awesome care for friends and family members of some of our artists who were sadly terminally ill and we’re immeasurably appreciative of their support. They are located in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire and provide many services from a day hospice, family counselling, support groups and more. For more info on their services please visit their website.
KS: What can we expect on the day of the event?
CT: Our charity event on Sunday 20th September will raise money to support the great work Primrose Hospice do. On the day we will have our artists tattooing. Cakes By Net will have some yummy cake treats for sale, hairstylist Ashleigh Bateman will be doing hair-ups for the ladies, we will have a bouncy castle, a BBQ for some meaty goodness and a raffle where you can win some great prizes.
The prizes include a tattoo off any artist of your choice, original artwork, prints, cake and more. Tickets can be purchased via our Just Giving Page (make sure you put RAFFLE in the message), or you can get tickets in the shop or on our Big Cartel Page. They are £5 per ticket or £10 for 3 tickets
KS: Are all of the staff at PLT getting involved?
CT: All of our staff will be getting involved as well as our special guests! Our artists will be tattooing, some will be working on current projects, others will be doing walk up designs on a first come first serve basis. Their designs will be posted on our Instagram and Facebook pages closer to the event with information on how to get in with them on the day.
I will be manning the helm on the day, going wherever I’m needed so if you have any questions fire them at me at email@example.com or pop in to the shop! It should be a really fun day so make sure to come down whether you want to get tattooed or not. We will also have clothing on sale so come grab a t-shirt to raise money for the cause. Eat a cake, have a burger, get your hair done or just come hang out at the shop and play some Playstation… but don’t forget to drop a few pennies at our Just Giving Page!
See you on the 20th September!
