Inkluded’s new online store is now open! We’re launching with five limited edition t-shirt designs, created exclusively for Inkluded by tattoo artists.
Inkluded was set up in 2014 with a strong mission to share the exceptional tattoo artistry being created in the UK today, and seeks to raise awareness of amazing art by creating an artistic community that you can feel included in.
By purchasing one of our t-shirts, you’re supporting this thriving creative industry.
That’s why, we don’t just want you to browse our products, we also want to introduce you to the guys who made them happen.
Say hello to Dan Metcalfe, who is one of the first artists creating an exclusive design for Inkluded’s new online store.
My name is Dan Metcalfe, I work at The Parlour Tattoos in Warwick. I have been tattooing for about two and a half years now.
When I started tattooing I always thought my chosen style would be colour traditional. However, about a year ago I decided to give black and grey realism a go. To my surprise, I really enjoyed it and have recently started doing portraits too.
I find doing portraits very rewarding… not that I don’t still enjoy doing colour traditional pieces too. My current aim is to create tattoos that people instantly recognise as being created by me.
My idea for this t-shirt design was quite simple. I instantly thought, I’ll do a skull, I haven’t seen a t-shirt with a skull on it for a while, and then I just worked around that.
I was going to do it in a traditional style but I wanted to push myself a little more. I then remembered a dot shaded portrait of my nephews that I did last year and decided to do it like that. I love the way it looks from a distance and felt that it would translate well into a t-shirt design.
Having a free reign on a design can sometimes be a bit of a blessing, and a curse. Sometimes it’s hard to know where to start without any brief or pointers, but it all came to me eventually and I enjoyed it just as much as I do when creating a tattoo.
I would also like to say a huge thank you to anyone that buys the t-shirt. It’s very humbling to know that people like your work and choose to buy it – it helps me push myself to be more creative and create more work outside of tattooing.
Our online store is now closed. We have very few items left in stock and these are being sold through Stag & Raven.
