I chatted to Mike about why he had chosen to dedicate tattoo time to this particular cause.
“In the media over the past few years I have seen more and more that sexual violence and abuse is growing,” says Mike, “to the point that on average 11 adults in the UK are sexually abused every hour.”
“I found it disgusting and disturbing to find that out. Instead of just saying how bad the situation was, I wanted to do something to help. This charity tattoo event will be ongoing throughout the month of November, and seeks to create some awareness.”
“Even if the event just encourages people to listen and support each other… the way the odds are, chances are that sexual violence effects somebody you know. The heart-shaped tattoo designs will make people ask questions about what they mean which gets people talking about the issues and helps those suffering not feel alone or helpless.”
Money will go direct to Rape Crisis UK who run centres all across the UK, providing vital support and care for victims.
The designs available can be seen on Mike’s Instagram page, with prices ranging from £60 to £120, and 50% of the cost going directly to the charity.
If you’re not wanting to get inked but still want to donate, you can do so online or pop in to give to Mike in person, and you’ll receive a free print from him.
Hats off, Mr Love!
