Tattoos are the definition of permanent. So, what happens when we want to remove them?
New American documentary movie D’inked aims to explore the culture and technology of laser tattoo removal.
The desire to remove unwanted ink dates back as far as tattooing itself.
As removal techniques have significantly changed and improved over time, so have the specific motivations that lead us to get rid of the tattoos that we’ve fallen out of love with.
This new movie follows the five year journey of a man who is utilising cutting edge laser technology to remove his full sleeve tattoo.
It also features other individuals currently in the process of removing their tattoos – from a man who attempted to home-remove a face tattoo with a soldering gun, to investigating what happens to your skin after it’s been treated with a laser.
D’inked asks, whilst laser removal can be painful and expensive, does it gives us a second chance? If we wish to erase our mistakes, what’s the best way to start over? (Hint: it doesn’t involve soldering.)
The film will be released in later 2017. Anyone interested can visit their website for more info, upcoming screenings and release dates: dinkedmovie.com
